Miriam B. Main, 94, of Downingtown, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at her home. She was the loving wife of the late Walter W. Main, sharing 46 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 1988.
Born in Lionville, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Ruth (nee Allison) Reese.
Miriam was a 1939 graduate of Downingtown High School. After raising her family, she was employed by Downingtown School District as a custodian, retiring in 1988 with 20 years’ service.
Miriam had a love of gardening and taking care of her yard. For leisure, she enjoyed putting puzzles together, reading books, and completing word-search puzzles. When she was able, Miriam would crochet and sew garments. She was also known for fixing things that were broken, and for being an avid Phillies fan. Most of all, Miriam was a loving mother and grandmother, and she will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Eppolito, of Downingtown, Ginny (Pat) Lobb, of Angola, Indiana, Vivian (David) Beideman, of Glenmoore, and Mary DiSalvo, of Downingtown; brothers, William Reese, of West Chester, and Warren “Mike” Reese, of Akron, PA; and daughter-in-law, Pat (John) Ferrell, of Honey Brook. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Walter William “Bill” Main; brother, Glenn Reese; and sons-in-law, Joe Eppolito and John DiSalvo.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 East Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA, with a viewing from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer.
