Joseph T. Steele

Tribute

Joseph T Steele, 84, of Honey Brook, formerly of Malvern, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at his home surrounded by family.  He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy E Steele (nee Riley).

Born in the Philadelphia area, he was the son of the late Joseph Steele and Irene C Steele (Brown).  He is predeceased by brother, Robert Steele and sister Peggy MacCrone.

Joseph boarded at St. John’s and St. Francis through elementary schooling and then attended Father Judge and Upper Darby High School’s, graduating in 1959.  He enlisted in the United States Naval Air Reserve in 1957.  In 1960 Joseph was stationed with the Pacific Fleet in the Philippine Islands as an Aircraft Engine Mechanic, Petty Officer 3rd Class and was honorably discharged in 1963.  He began his mechanical working career with American Oil/AMOCO and then transferred skills to education teaching Building Trades Maintenance at Folcroft Vo-Tech High School retiring in 1989.  He enjoyed traveling and camping, especially family trips to the beach.  Joe was 1st assistant to Dot’s quilting and dollhouse miniatures projects.

Joe was a quiet man with a gentle spirit.  His ability to keep others laughing with his antics continued throughout life up until his very last days.

Joseph is survived by three daughters, Karen Steele Knabb and her husband Scott of Sunapee, NH, Kelly A. Faga, (nee Steele) and her husband Michael of Coopersburg, PA and Colleen Laudermilch (nee Steele) and her husband Michael of Fountain Hills, AZ;  10 grandchildren, Brooke Elsier (Dillan), Nicole Elsier Sensenig (Eli) , James Derbyshire, Jr. (Jessica), Christopher Wiker, Jordan Elsier, Joseph Derbyshire (Taylor), Christopher Elsier, Heather Laudermilch, Robert Ellis, and Jordan Laudermilch; and by six great grandchildren, Madilyn, Emma, Marina, Evelyn, Adrienne and Aubrey.

Services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
