J. Steven Scott, mostly known as  “Scotty” or "Pop-Pop"  age 60, of Media, PA, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at home peacefully surrounded by his family. Scotty was born in Chester, PA, but spent most of his younger life in Media, PA, Delaware County.  For the last  30 years, he resided in the West Chester/Downingtown area. 

Scotty was a graduate of Penncrest High School, Media, PA, class of 1976. For 34 years, He worked at O’Rourke & Sons Inc. as the General Superintendent.  Scotty had a profound love for animals and nature.  He loved being outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and days spent on the water in his boat.   He was a member of the National Rifle Association.  Scotty had a hidden talent with photography, and captured beautiful images during his lifetime, mostly of wildlife. He was a wonderful husband, son, father, and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Scotty is survived and missed by his wife of 41years, Deborah Durant Scott, parents Joseph H. Scott and Ann Scott, children; Kristen (Tim ) Verna, Joseph Jr "J.R."  (Jennifer) Scott, and Jonathan Scott, sister Joann Dougherty, 5 grandchildren; Kyle and Kayla Verna, Joseph III, Jacob and James Scott.  He is also survived by several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are invited to join together and celebrate Scotty’s life on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, VALLEY location, 1060 W. Lincoln Hwy, Coatesville, PA 19320. Visitation hours will be 10AM-1:30PM, followed by a 1:30PM service. Interment will be private.  Scotty was never a fan of dressing up and preferred his jeans and T-shirts, so to honor Scotty’s specific wishes, the family requests all guests to please wear jeans and casual attire to his services.
