Jennie Rae Freas, 84, of Downingtown, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at Neighborhood Hospice of West Chester. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard C. Freas, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2000.

Born in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of the late Guy W. and Reta Deremer Oates.

Jennie was a former member of the Downingtown Borough Council; volunteered as a poll worker during elections in the East Ward District and was a volunteer at the Brandywine Consignment Shop. She was also the owner and operator of Jennie Rae’s Fashions in Downingtown for 20 years.

She is survived by her children, Vicki K. Sheeler and her husband Willy and Vincent J. Freas and his wife Denise; three sisters, Shirley Dormer, Grace Trego and Jane Robb; and by two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Jennie was predeceased by her daughter, Valerie G. Freas.

A graveside service will be held privately with the family.
