James Austin Parker

James Austin Parker, 88, of Coatesville, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Freedom Village surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Janet Eileen Monahan Parker.

Born in Somerset, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles Austin and Ruth Smith Parker.

Jim proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Sales Engineer for many years for various companies throughout his career. He was a past member of the Chester County Concert Band, the San Fernando Valley Banjo Band and the Los Angeles Police Department Concert Band.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his children, Charles Austin Parker and his wife Kathleen and Nancy Eileen Whinnery and her husband Hugh; five grandchildren, Austin James, Alison and Philip Parker and Andrew James Whinnery and Julia Collins; and by two great grandchildren, Eugenie and Shai Parker. He was predeceased by his son, David Frederick Parker.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown. Family and friends will be received from 5:00-6:45 p.m.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
