Frederick J. Gerace, 71, of Coatesville, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Chester County Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Deborah A. Esbin Gerace, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John J. and Gloria Giannini Gerace.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Frederick retired as an engineer from PennDot after 40 years of service.
Frederick was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman, an artist and skilled craftsman . He loved to share his knowledge and wisdom with his friends and especially children, not only of his profession, but of his love of the outdoors. He will be remembered as an intellectual man, who was straight to the point and was generous with sharing his thoughts.
In addition to his wife, Frederick is survived by his children, Cara M. Gavin (John), Ronald J. Burdo (Karen), Christopher J. Burdo, Jason C. Burdo (Rachel) and Jonathan J. Burdo; a brother, Gary J. Gerace (Marty) and by nine grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 4:30 pm, Friday, March 31, 2017 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave, Downingtown. Family and friends will be received from 3-4:15 pm.
Interment will be private with the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chester County Hospital Foundation c/o Abramson Cancer Center, 701 E. Marshall Street, West Chester, PA 19380.
