Florence T. ( Floss ) Herman of West Brandywine, PA, passed away at age 90 at Brandywine Hospital on January 1, 2018. She was the loving wife of John R. Herman, Jr. with whom she had shared 70 years of marriage.

Born January 6, 1927, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (McIlmoyle) Turkington. Floss grew up in Southwest Philadelphia, attended John Bartram High School and was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad until her marriage in 1947.

Floss was a homemaker for the remainder of her life and enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, traveling and many crafts. After her children were grown, she loved traveling the world with her husband Jack from Europe to Alaska to the Panama Canal. She and her family moved to Aldan in 1951 and then to Lansdowne in 1961. In 1975 they moved to West Chester. Following a move to Exton she and Jack purchased a home in Nokomis, FL where they spent many winters enjoying the sun and sand. In 2003 they made their final move to Freedom Village in West Brandywine.

In addition to her husband, Floss is survived by her children Cheryl Herman of North Port, FL, Sue Adams (Bob) of West Chester, Dave Herman (Joan) of West Chester and Rick Herman of Darby; her grandchildren Kevin Adams (Tracy), David Herman, Kimberly Gallagher (Sean), Kristen Herman, Emily Barletto (Chris), Courtney Herman and Ryan Herman; her great-grandchildren Jocelyn, Juliet and Joanna Adams, Vinny Herman, Max Gallagher and Olivia Barletto; sister Mary Paul (Archie) of Woodlyn and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Phyllis Park.

There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, in the auditorium of Freedom Village at 15 Freedom Blvd, West Brandywine Township, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
