Dorothy J. Whiteman, age 94, of Downingtown, PA, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Simpson Meadows Retirement Community. Dorothy was born and raised in Downingtown, and was the daughter of the late Richard and Naomi Hadfield. She graduated from Downingtown High School. For many years, Dorothy belonged to the First Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Coatesville, and served as a deaconess. Dorothy was very active with Meals on Wheels serving residents of Downingtown. Dorothy was a wonderful homemaker and mother who enjoyed spending time with her loving family. 
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband William J. Whiteman, son James Whiteman, and her brother Richard Hadfield.
Dorothy is survived and missed by her 6 children; Linda Mastrangelo (Vincent), Richard (Victoria), W. Robert (Anne), Thomas (Mary), Kenneth (Denise), and Jeffrey (Mari) Whiteman, brother Robert Hadfield, 13 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to Dorothy’s funeral service at 10:30AM on Thursday, August 10, 2017, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA, where friends may call from 9-10:15AM. Burial will immediately follow to Northwood Cemetery, Downingtown, PA.
