Doris G. Durning (nee Keithley), 87, of Downingtown, formerly of Glenmoore, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at her daughter’s home with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Durning, Sr., with whom she shared 56 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2006.

Born in West Chester, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Lillian Koos Keithley.

Doris was an avid reader and loved spending quality time with her family. She especially enjoyed coloring with her grandchildren. She was a foster mother for many years and worked as a poll worker for West Whiteland Twp. during elections. Doris was a member of St. Joseph’s Prime Timers and also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her three daughters, Patricia A. Durning-Young, Ret. USAF (Peter), Kathleen M. Dempsey (Gordon), and Margaret M. Malloy and her late husband, Patrick; a son, Joseph P. Durning, Jr. (Barbara); a brother, Edward Keithley; three sisters, Florence Hamilton, Martha Kirkner and Jacqueline Kalck (Fred). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Doris was predeceased by her brother Wayne Keithley and by a sister, Barbara Kirkner.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 1325 Boot Road, West Chester, where family and friends may call from 9:15-10:15 a.m.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Neighborhood Hospice, 400 E. Marshall Street, West Chester, Pa 19380.
