Darlene Kaye Jones, 79, of Coatesville, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Harrison House with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of William E. Jones, Sr., sharing 59 years of marriage.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 19, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Charley and Marguerite Sharp. Growing up on a farm, Darlene loved animals, had a great affinity for cardinals and her favorite flower was magnolias. She raised two great children, and she also worked as an accounting clerk for her husband’s medical waste company. She was a multi-talented woman, contributing to several aspects of the business, including purchasing, obtaining solid waste permits, and trade show modeling, among others. Back in the day, Darlene loved watching football and was a big Eagles fan. She was a fan of auto racing, such as NASCAR and Formula 1. More recently, Darlene enjoyed reading, watching movies and spending time with her family.

Surviving in addition to her husband Bill are her children Mary French, wife of Timothy, of Wilmington, DE, and William E. Jones, Jr., husband of Rachele, of Coatesville, PA; grandchildren Chandler French, William E. Jones III, and Cara Marie Jones; brother Steven Sharp, husband of Sharon; and niece Stephanie, wife of Alex, and their children Alex, Jr. and Charley, and nephew Scott, and his son Miles.

A memorial service will be on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 3 PM at James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335. Visitation will be from 2 – 3 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Darlene’s memory to The Journey Health Foundation, which offers support, programs and care for the elderly, or to a charity of your choice.
