Ralph C. Schroder, age 81, of Downingtown, passed away on Saturday February 4, 2012 at the Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester.

Born in Coatesville, Pa. he was the son of the late Charles H. and Vivian Callahan Schroder.

Ralph was a 1950 graduate of Scott High School in Coatesville. He retired in August of 2011 from the Chester County Sheriff's Department  where he worked for 18 years, prior to that he worked for the Davey Paper Co. of Downingtown. He served in the National Guard in Indiantown Gap, Pa.

Mr. Schroder was a member of the Williamson Lodge F & AM # 309 in Downingtown; he enjoyed boating on the Northeast River in Maryland but most of all he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by three sons, Curt Schroder and wife Deanna, Gregory Schroder, Wesley Schroder and wife Marybeth. Also survived by his four grandchildren, Kelsey, Mark, Daniel and Kristen Schroder.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday Feb. 8, 2012, at 2 PM from the James J. Terry Funeral Home 736 E. Lancaster Ave Downingtown, a visitation will be held Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM with a Masonic Service starting at 7:45.

Interment will be private.
