Karen L. Rodgers

Karen L. Rodgers, 45, of Downingtown, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse in Philadelphia, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Bristol, she was the daughter of Dale and Carol Weiser Habel of Holland.

Karen was a 1984 graduate of Council Rock High School. She then received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Human Resource Management from York College in 1988.

She was employed as an Assistant Aquatics Director for the Brandywine YMCA.

Karen excelled in swimming; competing year round in the Richboro Swim Club, AAU, Council Rock High School and York College teams. She also taught swimming lessons.

She was a member of the Downingtown United Methodist Church.

Karen loved vacations and trips with her children and watching them at their many events. She also enjoyed her Bunko Card Club.

In addition to her parents, Karen is survived by her children, Matthew C. Rodgers and Victoria K. Rodgers, both at home; and brother, David Habel, his wife, Lisa, and their children, Christina and John of Exeter Township.

A memorial service will take place at 11 am on Saturday, November 19th at the Downingtown United Methodist Church, 751 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 9:30 - 10:45 am.

Memorial contributions may be made to Matthew and Victoria Rodgers Education Fund c/o Sovereign Bank, 4900 Perkiomen Ave., Reading PA, 19606.
