Evan Connor Phillips

Evan Connor Phillips, 12, of Chester Springs, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 after a household accident while abroad in Kos, Greece.  He was in the 7th grade at Owen J. Roberts Middle School.

Born in Phoenixville, he was the son of Jason Keith and Diane M. Phillips (McDermott) of Chester Springs.

Evan loved to travel and, since the age of 5, had spent many months abroad with his family visiting the following: Italy, Gibraltar, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Ireland, United Kingdom, France, Scotland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Greece, and Turkey.

Evan was a certified scuba diver and went diving on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia as well as in the U.S. and New Zealand.  He loved history and world cultures and had friends living around the world.  In addition, he loved biking, swimming, hiking, caving, fencing, rock climbing, playing the piano, and studying natural history.

He adored his sister Caitlyn, loved his parents and extended family, his friends, and his dog, Pippin.

In addition to his parents, Evan is survived by his sister, Caitlyn Rebecca, at home; maternal grandmother, Lorraine McDermott of Pottstown; paternal grandparents, Evan and Grace Phillips of East Petersburg; aunt, Susan Dolan and her husband, Peter; uncles, Evan G. Phillips and Spencer D. Phillips and his wife, Andrea; and several cousins.

A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6th at St. Elizabeth’s Church, 100 St. Elizabeth Dr., Chester Springs, where family and friends may call from 8:30 - 10:15 a.m.  The family asks that everyone wear something blue to the services as it was Evan’s favorite color.

Interment will occur immediately following the service at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Lancaster.
