Pietro Sano, Jr., 81, of Exton, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Paoli Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of Rosaria Catanese Sano, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.

Born in Sicily, Italy, he was the son of the late Pietro, Sr. and Domenica Giorgianni Sano.

Mr. Sano was employed as a steel worker for 35 years with Luria Brothers, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Church in Chester Springs, and a former member of Our Lady of the Rosary in Coatesville.

Mr. Sano enjoyed opera, photography, gardening, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was also an avid Phillies and Flyers fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Pete A. (Lynn) of Downingtown, Mimma Marrollo (Tom) of Exton, Mario (Sandy) of Glenmoore, and Joe (Wendy) of Downingtown.  Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters; and grandchildren, Tommy, Nicky, Gia, Rachel, Rylie, Emily, Ella, Matthew and Jillian; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his grandson, Austin.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 11th, at St. Elizabeth Church, 100 St. Elizabeth Drive, Chester Springs, where family and friends may call from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m.  An evening visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 -8 p.m. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown.  Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery, West Brandywine.

The Sano family team participated in the annual Kidney Walk and because of the care Mr. Sano received at DaVita, Thorndale, the family would like memorial contributions in his name to be sent to the National Kidney Foundation, 111 South Independence Mall E. #411, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
