Harry R. Chicosky, Sr., 85, of Downingtown, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at his home surrounded by his wife and children. He was the beloved husband of Marguerite Ciarlone Chicosky, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in Towanda, PA, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Mary Chicosky.
He was a 1944 graduate of Chester High School and served his country proudly in the Army Air Force during W.W. II.
Harry worked as a car salesman for many years throughout the county, retiring in 1977. In his earlier years, he was a freelance photographer. An avid golfer, he enjoyed all sports and playing cards with friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his eight children: Harry, Jr. (Nicki), Bruce (Vicky), Cindy Greeley (Paul), Mark (Sue), Linda Flinn (Scott), Karen Mortzfield (Craig), Diane Thomson (Roy), and Christine Reid (David). He is also survived by his sisters, Helen Lundy and Estelle Smales, both of Wyalusing, PA; and by 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, John, Leon, Joseph and Anthony Chicosky.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 20, at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave, Downingtown. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, and on Friday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.
